SHAPING LIVES SUNDAY PROGRAM
What We Do?
At the Shaping Lives Sunday Program, we provide our students with a curriculum that is rich in Jewish values, songs, and traditions. We teach our students how to read Hebrew so that they can read the prayers and study the Holy Torah. The directors of the program are constantly creating and updating innovative lesson plans in order to meet the ever-changing demands and curiosities of our students. One of our goals is to create lesson plans that target the various styles of learning, for example, visual, auditory, or kinesthetic, so that our students are always learning in the way that best suits them and their needs. Our teachers are composed of caring, talented educators that not only are able to manage an entire group, but also can provide each child the individual attention they need. Activities, such as hands-on projects, are a weekly occurrence in order to strengthen what has been taught and to provide the learners with a sense of accomplishment in what they have learned.

OUR MISSION
Our first responsibility is to our children. We will provide them with a sense of their Jewish identity while nurturing them in an educational and enjoyable environment. We will instill in them the ethical and moral values needed throughout daily life. We will provide them with the skills necessary to read Hebrew and develop an understanding of the religious holidays. We will have the program be a place where rituals such as prayer and netillat yedayim (washing hands) can be performed. Lastly, the setup of our learning will allow our teachers and students to bond and hopefully develop a relationship that will last beyond the doors of the program.
Our second responsibility is to our families. In today’s generation, with the influx of information coming in from many different sources, it is important for parents to know that there is a place where their child can learn more than just what is taught in schools. The Shaping Lives Sunday Program is the place for that. We will provide an environment where parents can happily allow their children to learn Jewish and life values. We also offer the opportunity for children to participate in educational and fun activities, such as art and chess classes.
Our third responsibility is to our teachers and staff. We provide our teachers with a place to utilize their talents, and grow in the process, through the teaching of Judaism** By teaching in our program, they gain experience for their own career path in teaching or our they teach as a form of enjoyment to help kids and the community.[ We will provide workshops and training programs to constantly allow for continued growth in the field of teaching.] We believe each teacher has creativity and knowledge to give over, and this is the place where that can be passed on.
Our fourth responsibility is to the community. We provide the Jewish community with a program that caters to those who do not go to a religious school. We also provide a place where extracurricular classes, like art and chess, can be found. Furthermore, we offer a place for individuals to volunteer, acquire school community hours, and feel a sense of belonging.
